Rolex Fastnet Campaign 2011

The Race - 14th August 2011
The world famous Rolex Fastnet Race is like no other yacht race. Up to 300 yachts will be contending for class distinction and each crew member will gain the satisfaction of knowing that they have successfully competed in one of the world’s greatest offshore challenges.

The Fastnet is open to anyone who has the necessary sailing skills to face the trials the race will offer.  Whilst the challenges can not be understated, with the correct preparation, it can be one of life’s most inspiring adventures.

The Fastnet leaves Cowes, Isle of Wight, heading down the English Channel, towards Land’s End in preparation for the exposure of the Irish Sea and sight of the Fastnet Rock. Having rounded the ‘Rock’, the pace is quickened as the course skirts the Scilly Isles and makes haste for Plymouth and a triumphant welcome. In all, the Fastnet Race covers over 600nm and typically will take the competitors about 4 - 5 days to complete.
